My research at Northumbria University School of Design (Department of Media and Communication Design) centres on collaborative working, especially co-creation, co-design and co-production. I am currently developing projects which aim to synthesize design processes and social innovation activity through co-production.

I understand co-production as part of a cyclical process – co-creation, co-design and co-production – with the earlier elements focusing on conceptual, emergent and experimental processes. If we want to take advantage of efforts at social innovation, transformation and the strengthening of a ‘social economy’ then it will be necessary to develop qualitatively new ways of working together and ┬ánew kinds of relationships.
